Here's one for you. What is more important, increased usage of renewable energy like wind turbines, or preserving the pristine nature of Vermont's ridge lines and mountain tops? In other words, should Vermont consider allowing so-called "wind farms" on state owned ridge lines and mountain tops? If so, what are the drawbacks to it? If not, why not?
What about offshore like the proposed Nantucket Sound wind farm or other similar offshore project proposals? Is it okay as long as it is not in Vermont, or in your view, or in your area? Just something to think about...
just to visualize for you...

so, what do you think???
I think that the wind farm would be the first one because people would have an easy place to get to. The only drawback for me would be that we would need alot of people to clean and inspect the towers every week or so, but that would be cool to have wind farms in Vermont.

what about the people who love waking up to their view of the mountains, untainted by large wind turbines? Some argue that the large scale wind farms take away from the natural beauty. others might defend that the look of it is worth saving the earth by limiting our reliance on non-renewable energy. thanks for the comment!
ReplyDeleteI also think that it will make jobs for people, too!
ReplyDeleteFrom,

I think that it is very important to preserve VT's landscape, but I think that we also need renewable energy. I think we should put wind turbines in the ocean, if we use them. I think that wind power is clean but very inefficient, I think we should use nuclear power, it is clean, efficient, and safe, despite what some people say. I agree with Alex about the jobs, and I think nuclear power would create jobs also
ReplyDeleteWere would we put the nuclear power plants?
ReplyDeletemore importantly, where do we put the waste from the nuclear power plants? The half life is incredible so there is no real "safe" option other than to bury it and hope that is enough. does that seem eco-friendly?
ReplyDeletethat does not sound the friendly now that I think about it....
ReplyDeleteI personally think that these wind farms are really cool looking. They have awesome architectural features, and are really modern. Yes I understand that that modern is not the way people look at Vermont, but hey it might give us a new reputation. Although I think these are super cool and efficient, they are kind of a pain they are huge and kind of ruin the view. I think that a couple wind farms would be fine but not any where, were people look and enjoy, somewhere in the middle of no where, might work. So yes I think Vermont should get some wind farms, I mean we have all kinds of other farms : ) .
ReplyDeleteI agree with Abbey
ReplyDeleteHaving wind farms may ruin the view for some, but the architecture is really good. They are modern and a new reputation might be good. I think people are afraid of big changes, like wind farms. Renewable energy is better though. Also, not a lot of space for wind farms in VT. Deserts are better
ReplyDeletethat would be good for a desert but it would be hard for a crew to get there.
ReplyDeletemaybe...i dont know maybe not if we build a small town with just a few people that live temporarily out there
ReplyDeleteWater Tanks be provided Airplanes haul equipment Not too hard In one deert they have hundreds of wind farms. All real awesome
ReplyDeletewhats a "deert"? did you mean desart?
ReplyDeletei dont think that it is ecofrendly the nuclear wast is toxic from chris
ReplyDeleteWhat?
ReplyDeletePersonally i would like to wake up to the sight of those wind turbines in the fields of shelburne. And if there is a place where nobody goes or nobody cares about building them. Personally i think that the best things W. did as an executive (governor or pres.) were to set aside over one hundred islands in the pacific for preservation of coral reefs, move daylight savings, and put up thousands of wind turbines in the deserts of south texas.
ReplyDeleteOn the contrary, wind turbines aren't energy efficient enough to save you a lot of money on your bill but one can save you up to 45% depending on how big or small your house is.
I think that wind turbines are a good idea because they will save you money and if you have enough in certain places, you can make a lot of eco-friendly energy.
I also think that i stated that the new models from GE look very cool and i don't think at all that they would "taint the hillside" I don't know why Shelburne has outlawed them.

hears and idea...
ReplyDeleteWhy don't we just put it anywhere and see what will happen.
Think about that people!!!!!!!
I think it is a good idea to put wind mills in Vermont in fact my brother used to work at NRG. we show only put them in some areas so that Vermont stays a very nice place to live and doesn't become over filled with wind mills.
ReplyDelete-Chaveli
I agree. I think that our country needs to put more wind farms in Vermont. That would save soo much money from going to our gas prices.
ReplyDeleteGO WIND FARMS!!!
I think they should make a wind farm that looks like a forest or somthing like that :)
ReplyDeleteFrom Bradley
i think it would be cool to make energy by wind power and solar panels so we don't have to pay for energy every month.
ReplyDeletewe would still have to pay for energy and the wind farms probably want cut gas prices. also gas prices arent high right now.
ReplyDeletewhen i said want i meant wont, sorry =o
ReplyDeletetwo dollars is like buying a soda. two dollars is about 1/2 as much as about two months ago.
ReplyDeletei think that these socalled wind farms are great for the world and could change life
ReplyDeleteThey are all ready invented.
ReplyDeleteI think their are drawbacks and advantages. Vermont has a the luxury of not being totally processed like other states. THese wind farms do some what destroy our beutiful scenery and nature. It could be good because it uses rnewable energy and would make life easier and less expensive.-Sam Giles
ReplyDeleteWhat are you talking about?
ReplyDeleteThey dont destroy our senery!
I think that these are really nice to add to Vermont because it is very beutiful!
(i dont care if beutiful is spelled wrong. so no need to point that out.)
